We hope French Montana isnât trolling us.
On Saturday night, the MC4 rapper sent out a tweet that suggested Max B will make an appearance at Summer Jam 2017. If true, it would definitely go down as one of the biggest moments in the festivalâs history; however, thereâs one major problem: Max is currently behind bars.
The tweet, of course, created a stir on social media and left fans with countless questions. Did the 39-year-old Harlem MC finally get released? Or is French pulling a fast one on us?
In 2009, Max was sentenced to 75 years in prison on charges related to armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and felony murder. He accepted a plea bargain less than a year ago, which shortened his sentence to just 20 years. Though heâs expected to be released in November of 2025, his close friend French has claimed he could be out much, much sooner.Â
According to the New Jersey Department of Correctionsâ database, Maxâlegal name, Charles Wingateâis still in custody. This yearâs Summer Jam will go down in less than 24 hours, which is why many people have expressed skepticism. What are the chances he will be released within the next 24 hours and then immediately hit the stadium stage? The line-up for that includes Chris Brown, Fat Joe & Remy Ma, Migos, DJ Khaled & Friends, Trey Songz, and French with his surprise guests. Pray for Biggaveli's return.
Itâs also important to remember that Max has continued to release new music behind bars, so itâs possible French is referring to a song debut. Maybe his collaboration with Max and The Weeknd? Weâll have to wait and see.
Representatives for French Montana did not immediately respond to Complexâs request for comment.Â
