Macklemore marks his return today with the release of "Glorious," his new single featuring Skylar Grey that is produced by fellow Seattle artist Budo with additional work from Tyler Dopps.

The song provides an uplifting, anthemic vibe that Macklemore uses to put into focus his own legacy and what it means to truly make a mark. "I heard you die twice, once when they bury you in the grave/And the second time is the last time that somebody mentions your name/So when I leave here on this Earth, did I take more than I gave?/Did I look out for the people, or did I do it all for fame?"

"Glorious" serves as a single off Macklemore's first solo album in 12 years; he previously released two collaborative albums with Ryan Lewis. Macklemore's as-yet-titled project doesn't have a release date.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Macklemore explained he and Ryan are taking a musical break while they work on their own respective material. However, he made it clear this is not an official split. "We have been working together damn near every day for 9 years and it felt like the right time," he wrote. "This decision came from a place of love for one another. I’m the best man at his wedding next month. There will be more M&RL music to come when the time is right. And you'll be hearing from Ryan very, very soon."
