Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest stars in music today, and a lot of people expect him to carry himself a certain way as a result. Gaining fame can change who you are, but being flashy or rapping about extravagant things has never really been his style.
A recent gift for his sister sort of confirmed that. Kayla Duckworth took to Instagram to share a photo from the inside of a new vehicle her brother bought for her, which she claimed is a 2017 Toyota:
That didn't seem to be enough for critics on Instagram and Twitter, who openly questioned why Kendrick didn't buy his sister something a little more extravagant. But a larger contingent of fans thought it was silly to diminish him doing a nice thing for his family.

That there was any backlash in the first place is tremendously silly. AÂ brand new car is something most teenagers don't have access to when they start driving, and Kendrick providing that for his younger sister is awesome. Regardless of how much money he makes or how big of a star he is, it doesn't change the thoughtfulness of the gift. And Toyota makes good cars!
Besides, he has bigger things on his mind than what some critics on social media think about his spending. Kendrick's probably just hoping little sis doesn't duplicate the things he's claimed to have done in a Toyota as a kid.
