The 2017 BET Awards haven't even taken place yet, and they're already surrounded by a boatload of controversy. Hours after performing at the BET Experience event on Saturday night, ASAP Rocky was performing at 1 OAK nightclub in L.A. when an assailant reportedly tried to assault him.
According to TMZ, a man attempted to jump on Rocky after he performed a birthday tribute to fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, who was in the building along with him. A dust-up broke out afterwards, and Rocky found himself in the thick of it alongside security as they tried to restore order to the building.
There's not a whole lot known aside from that, because a man who claimed he was struck by security in a phone call to police had disappeared by the time cops showed up to the venue. All we have aside from that is some footage from the incident, which you can watch up top. You can hear someone yelling over the loudspeaker to, "stop the violence," and Rocky is seen weaving through the crowd amidst total chaos.
The weekend has been filled with incidents, starting with the altercation between Safaree and Meek Mill's crew on Friday night. As the he-said, she-said began to slow down over the next two days, news broke that Lil Kim was involved in an LAPD investigation over a $20,000 robbery committed at a house she rented for a post BET Awards party.
If Sunday night's awards are half as interesting as the lead-in, it'll be one hell of a time.
