Early in his career, Lil Uzi Vert has nailed some of the fundamental tenets of being a star. He's already pulling off insane stage dives into the crowd, and now it looks like he has graduated to skipping out on shows with no discernible explanation.

According to the Star Tribune, Uzi was a no-show for his scheduled appearance at Soundset, a yearly hip-hop showcase hosted by the Rhymesayers collective in Minnesota. He wasn't the only artist to pull out of the festival, but he offered no explanation publicly or privately, unlike peers who decided to do the same. Mac Miller, another artist who canceled his appearance, offered a strong explanation ahead of time centered around the Manchester attack and his girlfriend, Ariana Grande.

Uzi's only public communication since the no-show was a stray tweet he shared on Monday morning, perhaps hinting he may be working in the studio on Luv Is Rage 2.

My brain ... I'm going crazy 👹..2®

Fans didn't appear to be happy about the turn of events, and they took to Twitter to express their outrage at the lack of communication on behalf of Uzi and the event itself.

Soundset be like: Surprise!!!! You were expecting lil uzi vert but u got mod sun
1. Why the duck did lil uzi vert cancel
2. WHY the fuck did ATMOSPHER announce that this was the last soundset lmaaoooo
@soundset this fest is bullshit. No mac miller, Kevin gates, ty dolla sign, pusha t starts late, and where lil uzi vert? $100 ticket. Cool.
Fuck Lil Uzi on some real shit, can't show up to Soundset?
Lil uzi not showing up to soundset really put a hurt in my day
Soundset was lit, fuck u lil uzi vert
Go to soundset they said... Lil Uzi is performing they said...

Uzi may not be the first artist to bail on a performance, but this is a bad look for a young rapper still trying to solidify his fan base. The optics got a lot worse when Lauryn Hill—who is notorious for concert shenanigans—showed up on time and reportedly put on a great performance at the festival. When one of the most enigmatic stars in hip-hop shuts it down and you can't even be bothered to explain your no-show, you're going to get little sympathy from the public.

Complex reached out to Atlantic Records to get an explanation for Uzi's disappearance, and we're still waiting to hear back. We'll update this story when we have a better idea of why he didn't take the stage in Minnesota.
