The official lineup for the 2017 edition of Budweiser's Made in America Festival has been announced. Jay Z and J. Cole are set to headline the two-day event in Philadelphia. Migos, Solange, They., Pusha T, Vic Mensa, Run the Jewels, 21 Savage, DMX, and more will also be performing:
Tickets for the festival, which takes over Philadelphia on Sept. 2-3, will be available for pre-sale via Tidal starting at 2 p.m. ET. Additional sponsors for Made in America 2017 include the Live Nation, Citi, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
In a statement to Complex, ACLU executive director Reggie Shuford said they were thrilled to have been invited by Roc Nation to be a beneficiary of this year's festival. "Our mission is to protect the rights and freedoms in the U.S. Constitution—so the Made in America theme works for both of us," Shuford said. "We hope it's the beginning of a fruitful partnership! Jay-Z has been an outspoken advocate for ending mass incarceration and reforming the criminal justice system, which is a major priority for the ACLU, both in Pennsylvania and nationally. We are always so thankful when artists who have the ability to reach a massive audience join us in the fight for civil liberties—we need their help in educating the public and building a movement."
The very first Made in America fest took place in 2012. The origins and intent of the fest, founded by Jay Z, were explored in Ron Howard's 2013 documentary Made in America:
In a 2012 interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jay said he chose Philly as Made in America's home due to its "iconic" status. Jay also explained the message behind the festival's name. "It's for all people. It's for all… it's the hope that America is built on," Jay said. "That you can make it here. Just strengthening that theme that America is a place of opportunity and hoping to inspire people to fulfill those opportunities, and to want more, and to want better, and to see the places we can go."
