August Alsina Opens Up About Battling Liver Disease: 'Don't Treat Me Like I'm a F*ckin' Cancer Patient'

August Alsina opened up about health issues in an interview with Jada Pinkett-Smith, and claims he's battling serious liver disease.

Through a series of posts on his Instagram page, August Alsina revealed he is locked in a long battle with liver disease, and claims he is "sicker than ever."

The New Orleans native hasn't been super active lately, and battling serious illness would certainly explain that. He wouldn't get into any specifics about what exactly he's fighting, but he opened up about his failing health in an interview with Jada Pinkett-Smith, and said he's not interested in the public's sympathy.

"I have a liver disease, where my autoimmune system is fighting against itself," he said. "Reality is that I'm sick all the time. I don't really like to talk about it because I'm not looking for anybody's sympathy. Don't treat me like I'm a fuckin' cancer patient, because I'm not."

In another post from a few days before he shared this interview, Alsina included a lengthy caption referencing the disease within him:

I've been living my life in so much disease that I've literally created it within myself... God has invested something inside of me, But I am not afraid of this Agony because I know that God pulls us back to shoot us FORWARD. 🏹 & To my lovely and loyal fans.. Please take care of yourself and your bodies & your SOULS. A beautiful face will fade, a beautiful body will too fade, but a beautiful soul is that FOREVER. I have so much to share, until I do.. Please say a prayer 🙏🏾

This isn't the first time Alsina has battled health issues during his time in the spotlight. He collapsed on stage during a 2014 performance in New York City, and would later reveal he slipped into a coma for a period of at least three days. Within a year, he was telling fans about his degenerating eyesight, and was eventually forced to undergo surgery to save his vision.

Whatever the illness is that Alsina is dealing with, we're sending good vibes his way. At just 24 years old he still has a lot to offer the world, so here's hoping he's able to fight back against another setback to his health.
