Besides dubstep, trip-hop, D&B and any of the other sounds synonymous with Bristol, one of the city's finest exports is techno. The same dubby, DIY aesthetics that marked out Bristol's take on those sounds also courses through that city's techno output—and to great effect.
The latest producer flying the flag for Brizzle techno is Lokua, who's about to drop his new EP, Blurred, via Artifice Music (due April 29). The title track of Lokua's new EP is simultaneously dark, minimal, hypnotising and energising—rolling along with relentless drive. Even if you're not the biggest techno lover, fans of the whole rollage/techy grime instrumentals will get a kick out of this.
