To mark the release of their new single "Hurricane", conceptual collective Drones Club have recruited house and techno auteur Paul "Special Request" Woolford to remix the track in question. Nothing quite gold-plates a track like a remix from Woolford and this is no different. "The rework of Drones Club was written in a fevered two-day period," Woolford explained to us, "and I hesitated to hand it in, wondering if it could exist in a different way. My aim with any remix is to always have that emotion at some point during the creative process; if I feel it's strong enough to be a record in it's own right, then I know it will connect. I loved working on this record."

Though Woolford's being typically modest about the result, his "Hurricane" remix is up there with his best. Sitting firmly at the dark and groovy house end of his creative spectrum, Woolford hones in on the deep, foreboding bass, shot through with bursts of piano melody. If you're more of a rave head, this could be an ideal way into Drones Club and their blend of Devo- and Bill Drummond-inspired escapades.
