As a former member of The X Factor-assembled band The Risk, the name Derry Mensa might ring a few bells to some, gracing national TV screens throughout the audition and live process in 2011. Today however, Dez Mensa begins a new journey, with a new sound, and unveils a new set of visuals to boot. Featuring a slick interpolation of Donnell Jones' R&B classic, "Shorty Got Her Eyes On Me", "Girl For Me" is crafted by rising London producer J Ceaze, with additional help from Mensa too.
"A lot of people say love isn't there anymore, so we want to crack the idea people have of love," says Mensa over email. Whilst a particularly lofty goal to set off the back of a return single, it's nonetheless great to have Dez Mensa back in the fold.
