DMX Reportedly Cancels Shows After 'Medical Emergency'

DMX has called off several shows set for California this week.

DMX has called off multiple scheduled performances in California. According to a report from TMZ Wednesday, DMX’s show in Santa Ana was canceled due to a "medical emergency." Dates in Los Angeles and San Diego have also been postponed, reportedly due to the same medical issue. At the time of publication, DMX's show at the Observatory North Park in San Diego was still listed on the Live Nation website.

Though the exact nature of the "medical emergency" has not been disclosed, TMZclaimed that "several people in DMX's inner circle" have been concerned about the artist's health for the past week. TMZ also claimed that "friends" fear DMX has relapsed. Reps for DMX did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment Wednesday.

A Ruff Ryders reunion set at Barclays Center in Brooklyn last week left some fans underwhelmed, with Billboard's Carl Lamarre writing "DMX struggles mightily" in his breakdown of the star-filled night.

Both DMX and the Lox were announced this week as headliners for the 13th annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, which runs from July 10 through July 16:

DMX kicked off the year with a new Swizz Beatz-featuring single entitled "Bain Iz Back." In an Instagram post announcing the track and wishing fans a happy New Year, DMX appeared to confirm that more new music would be released at some point in 2017.
