UPDATED 7:51 p.m. ET: This is confusing. Following the release of his new track “Different,” Marquise Jackson insists the song is not taking shots at his father, 50 Cent.

“This is not a diss to my father at all,” the aspiring rapper said in a video posted by TMZ. “I think they want it to be a diss, that’s why. People making it a diss because, I guess they want it to be a diss. But it’s not. It’s what’s going on in my life.”

Marquise then goes on to talk about his upcoming mixtape, claiming it’s about him stepping out of his dad’s shadow. He also wants people to know that the project is a reflection of who he is as an artist and that his father is not behind it.

When asked if he would ever collaborate with 50, Marquise responded with, well, a diss.

“Would I work with him? Uh, I don’t know. His music hasn’t been too good lately,” he said. “That’s just being honest. That’s my opinion.”

It’s funny that Marquise began the video by claiming he did not intend to insult his father, and then, moments later, completely blasted his recent work. We get it: The man was just stating his honest opinion; however, an honest diss is still a diss.

Tensions are rising between 50 Cent and his son Marquise Jackson, who is now dissing his father on wax via his new song titled "Different." "Lost my pops, he's still alive," Marquise raps on the song, which will be featured on his upcoming mixtape. To add to the drama, Marquise dropped this song on the 14th anniversary of 50 Cent's classic album, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. 50's relationship with Marquise has apparently been on the rocks for years now and the budding rapper recently talked about the situation with Rap-Up

"It completely went south when I was probably like 10 or 11. He wasn’t really around enough," he said. "It kind of dwindled down as time went on and certain events happened. For me, I just started feeling differently about him because growing up, my dad was my superhero. He’s on television, he does this, he does this, he would take me to school. It was like having a father who’s Superman, more or less."

Yikes. 50 has yet to respond to the diss and seems to be ignoring it, as he has posted on Instagram numerous times since the song dropped. With this being a family matter, it's unclear where the issues will go, but it certainly seems like Marquise and 50's relationship isn't about to get better anytime soon.
