LL Cool J Advocates Pardoning BMF's Big Meech and Southwest T

LL Cool J takes to Instagram to make an impassioned plea for pardoning Big Meech and Southwest T of the BMF.

Since being convicted in 2008 on federal drug charges, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory have been name dropped by the likes of 2 Chainz, Jeezy, and Rick Ross. Iconic MC and actor LL Cool J hasn’t explicitly referenced the Flenory brothers, but a recent Instagram post indicates the members of the Black Mafia Family are on his radar.

“They were incarcerated for non violent drug offenses,” LL Cool J wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. “If they were pardoned I’m sure they would do the right thing. It’s a matter of character. From the outside looking in I think they both have it. Although they set what some would call a negative example I think the second chapter of their lives could potentially bring a lot of healing and inspiration to a down trodden community and show all our citizens that the USA is a country where second chances are possible.”

Outgoing Presidents traditionally issue pardons during the waning days of their final terms. In recent weeks, John Legend has similarly called for President Obama to take action to aid non-violent drug offenders. In the case of Meech and Southwest T, both brothers were sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to running a continuing criminal enterprise. According to a statement by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, law enforcement officers seized over 476 kilograms of cocaine intended for distribution by the BMF.
