South Florida rapper Brisco once rhymed about the depths of crime on the track “Opa Locka Goon.” Thanks to some recent legal trouble, he may have more direct insights to offer. The former Poe Boy rapper, who was once linked to Cash Money Records, was arrested this week in Broward County, Florida for accusations of selling counterfeit money to an undercover agent as well as alleged links to a $200,00 fraud ring.

Brisco, whose real name is British Mitchell, was apprehended during an appearance with another unnamed rapper. According to the U.S. Secret Service, Brisco was wanted by the agency since August of this year. According to investigators, Brisco and a group of associates allegedly used deception to purchase items at local home-improvement stores. The items were then reportedly re-sold to contractors at lower prices. Authorities said the ring operated in Broward and Miami-Dade counties between November 2015 and August 2016.

“Agents testified that Mitchell led law enforcement on two high-speed chases when different agencies tried to arrest him in Broward County and in Miami-Dade County on Aug. 23,” wrote Paula McMahon in a report for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “One of the chases reached speeds of 90 to 100 mph and both agencies abandoned their pursuits because of the potential danger to the public, investigators said.”

Federal agents officially declared Brisco a fugitive in October, and the rapper apparently avoided being tracked by deactivating his cell phone and avoiding all social media. The last tweet from Brisco’s official Twitter account is dated Aug. 24, 2016.
