Young Dro made headlines in August after being arrested in Statesboro, GA. for a handful of charges that included possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon in a school safety zone, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The arrest ultimately ended with jail time, and Dro cleared up the matter of who he believed was at fault in a recent interview with The Breakfast Club.

Dro and three other men were set to perform at Georgia State University when police performed a Probable Cause search of their vehicle. The search turned up a firearm, a blunt, and other objects. Dro indicated the gun belonged to now-estranged Hustle Gang member Spodee.

“That was my partner, but I guess it wasn't for me,” Dro told Charlemagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy. “He turned the story around and was like, ‘They’re just saying the gun is mine because of who Dro is. It’s his gun. He has a record.’ We cuffed, and I was trying to slide [over] so I could headbutt him.”

Dro said he served 35 days in addition to paying various fines and legal fees. Ultimately, Spodee is no longer with Hustle Gang, telling DJ Smallz he outgrew the collective headed by T.I. The Atlanta native also revealed his time away from the spotlight gave him space to reflect, and he stopped drinking lean. He also said he was in the process of quitting smoking.

The interview also features Young Dro weighing in on T.I. publicly reprimanding Lil Wayne for his comments on the Black Lives Matter movement. Dro said he “clenched in embarrassment” while watching Wayne on Nightline. For his part, Dro said he disagreed with Wayne’s stance and had no issue with T.I. publicly criticizing Wayne since the initial remarks were also made public.
