Roc Nation'sKevin Garrett just released his new video for "Precious." The stark, black-and-white video finds Garrett reminiscing on an old flame with a simple set of visuals focused on Garrett on a rooftop looking out on the city. "Precious" was directed by Garrett's longtime collaborator Shervin Lainez.

"I wanted to work with Shervin Lainez to make a video that focused on self preservation but still represented the core of the song which is getting over a past love; hence there being minimal shots of the other character that slowly dissipate as the video progresses," Garrett said about the video in a press release.

Much like its moody video, the song tackles Garrett's feelings of heartbreak and self-doubt. "I left my heart for the road/Cause I didn't need it, yeah/She wanted my flesh and bones/And I let her keep it/And I am the one to blame/For what's left of me has changed," he sings on the song's second verse, reflecting on a relationship that went awry.

Garrett's star has been on the rise over the past year. He dropped the EP Mellow Drama in 2015 to much praise, and co-wrote/co-produced the track "Pray You Catch Me," off Beyoncé's 2016 album Lemonade
