The untimely death of Shawty Lo hit the hip-hop community hard. Shortly after the Atlanta rapper was killed in a car accident last month, artists from different genres and eras expressed their condolences through social media platforms as well as concert performances. And now, Rick Ross has paid tribute to Lo’s life and career with a new freestyle.

Released on the day of Shawty Lo’s burial in Atlanta, the track is a remix of "I'm Da Man,” a 2005 song by Lo’s group D4L. The decision to use this specific cut is especially fitting for Rick Ross, as he and Lil Wayne jumped on the official “I’m Da Man” remix nearly 10 years ago.

“Shawty Lo, Shawty Lo, I’m finna smoke me one, my nigga, God bless your soul,” Rozay raps at the end of his verse.

Shawty Lo was killed in the early hours of Sept. 21. The accident was originally reported as a hit-and-run; however, officials later confirmed it was a single-car crash. Lo was 40 years old and left behind 11 children.

The day before his burial at the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta on Saturday, his loved ones took his casket to the Blue Flame Lounge, which was reportedly his favorite strip club.
