Rapper MadeinTYO (stands for Made in Tokyo) has been blowing up over the past two years. His debut smash single “Uber Everywhere” sent tidal waves throughout the hip-hop world, amassing nearly 45 million hits to date on YouTube and over 728,000 likes on Soundcloud.

Although he has roots in Tokyo and Atlanta, MadeinTYO spends much of his time in San Francisco, an ethnic and cultural melting pot. Complex News’ Pierce Simpson linked with the rapper in the Bay Area to discuss how the metropolis influences his music and way of living. The two hit up the legendary Amoeba Music record store, picked up some dope fits at The Darkside Initiative, and chowed down on delicious ramen in Little Tokyo.

When Pierce asked what’s next for MadeinTYO, the rapper revealed he’s working on a project with hit-maker Metro Boomin and is planning to perform in Shibuya, Toyko, Japan very soon. Clearly, he’s got big things brewing.

Check out the video above for an exclusive look into MadeinTYO’s Bay Area lifestyle, and keep it locked to Complex for more episodes of the Bound to Be Bold series.
