For those of you who've been patiently waiting for Run the Jewels 3 AND a new Gears of War game, we've got you covered. On Thursday, Microsoft dropped the new Horde 3.0 trailer for Gears of War 4 (which drops via Xbox One and Windows 10 devices on Oct. 11) and it features "Panther Like a Panther," a new track from El-P and Killer Mike's third collaborative album.
There's something about the syncopation of new RTJ soundtracking a game where jokers are getting sliced, diced, and totally obliterated. When asked about how this union came about, Studio Head at The Coalition Rod Fergusson said that "Run the Jewels was on heavy rotation when we started laying the groundwork for the next era of Gears back in 2014, and has been there ever since." Fans of Gears and RTJ will be happy to know that both El-P and Killer Mike will be added as characters in the Gears of War 4 multiplayer.
Sadly, as of right now, there's no word on when Run the Jewels 3 will be available, but based on the sound of "Panther Like a Panther," it's going to be another banger.
For Seattle-based Gears/RTJ fans, Killer Mike, El-P, and Rod will be at BAIT on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 2-3 p.m. to meet and greet as well as give away some exclusive collaboration giveaways. You can also cop limited-edition RTJ/Gears of War mashup merch via the RTJ website.
