Pusher, 'New Laces'

If you've been keeping abreast to the movements in the electronic music scene, the name PUSHER should be up your alley. While he describes his sound as "shiny" and "colorful," it's deeper than that. There's a playful, imaginative vibe throughout his work, with a magical 8-bit/16-bit flex to the sounds he uses. His debut EP New Laces comes out Sept. 16 on Black Butter—which has gifted the world with material from GoldLink and Gorgon City—and it's just as beautiful as the material he's previously released.

"I spent a long time developing the overall aesthetic of this EP," PUSHER says, "crafting a diverse but coherent group of songs with the various singers, and I think each song has it’s own unique story and personality, which really interests me." You can hear this through each track, giving us a vast landscape where RPG storylines come to life, each with a different texture and beat. The release is very vocal-heavy, which helps add a human element to the electronically sharp journeys we take in sound throughout New Laces.

For those who are wondering where PUSHER takes his talents to next, he's thinking the same thing. "Moving forward, I’m going to continue to expand the Pusher universe creatively and to refine my writing style, as well as collaborating with lots of exciting new musicians." Hopefully you're ready for that video game-loving kid in you to continue this journey.

For now, you can catch PUSHER on both sides of the Atlantic during his tour, which has dates through the end of December. Wondering what PUSHER live sounds like? Check out his recent mix which went down earlier this week at Complex HQ.
