This year alone, Kanye West has hit us with back-to-back groundbreaking visuals from his critically acclaimed (and medium-challenging) The Life of Pablo album. But the visual component of West's work has always been front and center, even way back in 2004 with the POV vibes of the "All Falls Down" video. In a fresh video chat with W Magazine, West revealed his evolving thought process behind bringing his songs to life and why he'd much rather not be in front of the camera.

"The opportunity to put moving art against the music was one of the best parts about being a professional recording artist," West said in the quotable-filled clip. However, dude is growing a bit weary of the process these days. "I get tired of making videos now," West told W. "I barely wanna stand in front of the camera at all. I'd rather do things where I'm just using my mind."

For Kanye, being creative is all about nailing down that distinct holiday gift vibe with every release. "Another parallel [is] Elf," West said, referencing one of the greatest movies of all time. "I'm the elf that's Will Ferrell that's too big for his hands to make the toys. But he wants to make the toys. Why? Not just so he can play with them, but he wants to bring joy to the world."

The full clip is worth every second of your time, especially if you're looking for some new laser-inspired disses for all the artless lames in your life. For example, here's one you should use at work today when your co-worker lies and says they'll be at your stand-up show tonight when you know goddamn well they're just gonna crash out to some hideous Kevin James movie instead:

"Shut the fuck up. I will fucking laser you with alien fucking eyes and explode your fucking head. Try to write a rap. Okay then. I made this fucking t-shirt now shut up."
