It was announced back in 2015 that Justin Timberlake and Netflix were teaming up for a concert film and the hyped up project’s new trailer is finally here. The film follows Timberlake and his band, The Tennessee Kids, on the last performance of his 134-date 20/20 Experience World Tour at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas that went down all the way back in November 2013.
Academy Award-winning director, Jonathan Demme, is directing the project. Demme is best known for directing the 1991 classic, The Silence of the Lambs, and 2004’s The Manchurian Candidate, but he also has experience in concert films. Previously, he was at the helm of the Talking Heads’ 1984 live performance film, Stop Making Sense, as well as Neil Young: Heart of Gold.
"It's very emotional, very exciting." Demme told Entertainment Weekly back when the film was first announced. "It's a space age music film...There's tremendous dancing in this piece. He’s got an extraordinary band called the Tennessee Kids. Huge horn section, two lead guitars, two drummers, eight dancers, four exquisite background singers. And we caught them on their last performance."
If you remember, the 20/20 Experience was peak JT "Suit & Tie" era, so expect a heavy rotation of tuxedos and slick, choreographed numbers to fill up the screen as he performs hits like "Pusher Love Girl and "TKO."
