Freddie Gibbs has been acquitted of sexual assault charges in Austria, his attorney confirmed on Friday morning. News of Gibbs' acquittal was first shared by his manager on Twitter:

Gibbs was formally charged with sexual assault in August in connection with a 2015 incident in Vienna, the Daily Star reported at the time. Gibbs was first arrested on the charges while on tour in France and was eventually released on bail shortly after being charged. According to a statement to the Daily Star from a local court official, Gibbs had been alleged to have "administered knock-out drops to a woman and then have abused her sexually while she was in a defenseless state."

In a statement released to Complex on Friday morning, attorney Theodore Simon confirmed that Gibbs had been found not guilty but was quick to assert that "nothing has changed," as the "actual facts" had always demonstrated that "Freddie was and is 100 percent innocent."

Read Simon's statement in full below:

"Today, September 30, 2016 Freddie Gibbs was found not guilty. We have always maintained unconditionally and without any doubt that Freddie would be and now has been fully exonerated and completely vindicated. We are pleased and thankful that the Court recognized the same trust and confidence we and all of his fans have had in Freddie that justified and resulted in his absolute acquittal. Immediately after his acquittal I spoke with Freddie who expressed his deeply sincere, heartfelt gratitude and thanks to his fiancé Erica Dickerson for her unwavering support, for the steadfast and incomparable loyalty of his long time friend and manager Ben “Lambo” Lambert, for the extraordinary work and effort of his lawyers and for the overwhelming outpouring of love he has received from his fans. He says, “Thank you!”
