Exclusive: The Grime Scene Talks Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’ In New Mini Doc

Presented by Red Bull.

The event the whole of London has wanted for a hot minute is finally taking shape. Dizzee Rascal will perform his legendary album, Boy In Da Corner, right around the corner from where he grew up: Bow's Copper Box Arena—a befitting venue for an iconic moment not just in grime, but in the history of UK music. Located in the heart of east London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which Dizzee performed at during the 2012 Olympics, the venue's reputation as "the box that rocked" will be sent into overdrive with what will be an emotional and monumentally hype evening.

To further add to the anticipation, Red Bull Music Academy created a short film looking back at Boy In Da Corner and what the album really meant to the people central to accelerating the culture today. The scene's movers and shakers share their memories of the emcee's debut long-play, talking about the album's initial jarring impact through to it being celebrated as one of the best albums to come out of the UK to date. The film also looks back at the influence the album had on reflecting the culture prevalent in the UK at the time, through to how it's managed to remain as audibly gritty and groundbreaking today.

Featuring appearances from grime pioneers including Complex UK's Joseph JP' Patterson and Laura 'Hyperfrank' Brosnan, Hattie Collins, Sian Anderson, Logan Sama, DJ Semtex, Morgan Keyz, Cadell, Posty, Scrufizzer, Scorcher, Julie Adenuga, DJ Target and Kish Kash, this mini doc should properly charge you up for the event on October 22.
