Are The Weeknd and Daft Punk working together? A Republic Records executive says yes.

As Fader pointed out early Tuesday, a July 15 Billboard interview with Republic Records' executive vice president Wendy Goldstein contained some interesting information about a potential The Weeknd/Daft Punk collaboration. “Well actually, we have a session coming up in two days with The Weeknd and Daft Punk, and I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan,” she told the publication. “This is the first time I’ve been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”

Last week, The Weeknd put some juice into the collaboration rumors by posting a photo of two decidedly Daft Punk-ian robots on Facebook and including two robot emojis in the caption. It excited many fans who took that photo to mean that a collaborative effort is in the works. "Daft Punk x The Weeknd would absolutely blow my mind please make it happen!" wrote one commenter. "Please let this be a tease for a Daft Punk collaboration!" wrote another.

Could this mean that the studio sessions Goldstein detailed between The Weeknd and Daft Punk bore musical fruit? Is The Weeknd about to release his version of "Stronger?" Only time will tell, but fans of both artists are sure to be excited about the possibility of two industry giants linking up for new music.

While you wait for a potential collaboration to surface, you can check out Goldstein's comments in the video below, and read the whole feature over at Billboard.
