Telemachus is one of the most influential unsung heroes of British music in recent years. Drawing on pirate radio and the UKG, grime, dancehall, jungle, etc. it played for inspiration, he first started as a hip-hop producer under the name Chemo, eventually finding work with legendary artists like Roots Manuva, Jehst and High Focus. Now, some time later, he's found a home on Cadenza's The Full Hundred label to put out new Telemachus production "Banshee Riddim". A far cry from UK rap, "Banshee Riddim" and his other Telemachus productions hark back to those pirate radio days, bringing the breaks and bass-led sounds that raised him into a modern, high-definition setting. Naturally, the production values are high but that makes it all the more impressive that he's successfully captured that raw DIY essence on record.
