Ndella

Having graduated from Goldsmiths Art School, it was when Ndella uploaded a cover of Little Dragon's "Twice" to SoundCloud that she really started to turn heads. Fast forward to now, and esteemed label 37 Adventures are prepping their next compilation, Odd Numbers Volume 1 (due Aug. 5). The tracks inside come almost entirely from artists on 37 Adventures' roster, with salute, Krrum (with a cover of Flume's "Never Be Like You"), Jones and Cautious Clay (with a cover of Toro Y Moi's "So Many Details"), but it was Ndella's "Gone" that piqued our interest with her deft use of poignant keys and arresting, emotionally-wrought voice. But it's not just sonically that Ndella tugs at the heartstrings; just listen and you're taken on a heartbreaking tale of coming to terms with a relationship simply not working. In what is already an emotionally-charged and thoroughly relatable tale, the line I don't know why I thought things could change stands out as the song's most simple but devastating phrases.
