Coyote Records is having a pretty good time of it at the moment. After releasing Last Japan's AJ Tracey-assisted Ascend and a few notable takeover appearances on stations like 1Xtra and Rinse FM, the label is now preparing for the release of Spokes' Flight EP, which is due for release on August 5. Following on from last year's widely celebrated Green Eyes EP, this new package sees Spokes veer further from his previous grime-influenced productions. "Failed State" in particular is a marked departure from club territory with swooping, atmospheric synth washes and far-off vocal clips. At one point, the whole thing's broken down to reveal just a solitary piano line. There are still a few moments for the dancefloor, but this is more about building rich sonic textures we can all get lost in.
