Radiohead held a worldwide streaming event for their new album A Moon Shaped Pool at selected record stores on Friday, with a day-long audio stream, competitions, instructional artworks, and more from the band. According to Turkish media, reports say a group of men attacked Radiohead fans at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul while the event was taken place.

The attack stemmed from people in attendance who were consuming alcohol during Ramadan. In statement issued by the band’s publicist, they said:

It’s unclear how many people were injured during the attack. It has been previously reported that no one was injured, but one individual says they were bleeding from the head after being struck by a bottle.

One of the store’s owners allegedly posted on Reddit about the encounter and shared some vivid details. “I am the person that’s speaking in that video, he writes. "I am the owner of that periscope account. They were determined to kill us. We were beaten by more than 20 men with pipes in their hands, beer bottles were broken on our heads. I don’t even know how we made it out. I will share the details later guys, just hoping that no one will die.”
