Prince's ex-wives, Manuela Testolini and Mayte Garcia, organized a private memorial for the late music legend in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, which featured a star-studded guest list. Spike Lee, Nile Rodgers, Herbie Hancock, Gwen Stefani, Janelle Monae, Eric Benet, Tavis Smiley, and Dita Von Teese were all among the guests in attendance, according to TMZ. Ahead of the ceremony, Lee previewed his purple outfit for the ceremony on Instagram writing, "Purple beret and purple Kobe's for Prince memorial tonight in El Lay."

Previously, Prince's family released an official statement regarding their future plans for a private memorial service. "We would like everyone to know that, contrary to previous and current reports, there has been no memorial, funeral or tribute service for Prince that was organized or authorized by the family or Paisley Park representatives," his siblings said. "Together, the family is planning an official memorial service and public event to take place in the near future."

Last week, Prince was also honored with a free memorial concert outside of Los Angeles City Hall where he filmed the music video for his 1991 hit song "Diamonds and Pearls." Thousands of fans dressed in purple attended the ceremony where Aloe Blacc, Faith Evans, and Eric Bonet sang some of Prince's biggest hits. Stevie Wonder made a surprise appearance and led the crowd in a performance of "Purple Rain."

There is still an ongoing investigation looking into the cause of Prince's sudden death. In April, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson stated that there were no signs of trauma on Prince’s body and that there is no reason to believe that the death was a suicide. Reports later surfaced that Prince was set to meet with an addiction specialist the day after he passed. The US Attorney's Office and DEA also joined the investigation, but have released no official cause of death yet as the results of Prince's autopsy are still pending.
