The musical partnership of Plaitum, aka producer Matt Canham and vocalist Abi Dersiley, based on a friendship of nine years, is most definitely a cohesive one. Dersiley's frosty vocals on new single "Jagwa" (taken from the EP of the same name, due May 20 via Wolf Tone) pair up nicely with Canham's brooding and arresting production. Dark0, ever one to cut to the very essence of a track, clearly recognised this. His remix, which we have the exclusive first listen of, catapults "Jagwa" onto even more dramatic new plains. An eruption of grand electronics opens the track before falling away to let Dersiley's vocals take centre stage while subtly emphasising the most devastating moments of Canham's production. As Dersiley puts it, "the EP gets progressively darker and sludgier. Unlike our debut EP, which was more or less psycho happy mayhem, we definitely wanted this one to more deliberate, less a frenzied crime of passion and more like a carefully formulated assassination."
