Premiere: Lemon Future Serves Some Warm And Fuzzy "Golden Era" Electronics

Sentiment and substance over style any day.

None

Lemon Future says that visual art, specifically surrealists and impressionists, have as much influence on his new five-track Golden Era EP (due May 27 via Dirty/Clean) as any music ever has. You can hear most clearly on the title track with its rich and varied textures that balance familiar rhythms with more leftfield touches for an unsettling sense of the uncanny. There's also something indefinable about the production, something raw that suggest an artist rejecting the ultra-polished sounds of his peers, instead embracing the imperfections. Or, in his words, "you can have melting clocks on a desert sandscape, just as you can have ambient samples on top of a driving house rhythm lined in shiny video game synths."
