If you ask Common to freestyle on live air, there’s a good chance he’s going to step up and completely crush it. This was proven, once again, during Tuesday’s “Sway in the Morning” show, when the Chicago rapper was asked to spit some bars over a Premo beat. And, to no one’s surprise, the flow was flawless.

In the two verses, Common addressed the American Black Film Festival, the Black Lives Matter movement, and notable black icons:

"Hot damn, black America again/ Think of Sandra Bland as I’m staring in the wind/ The color of my skin they comparin’ it to sin/The darker it gets the less fairer it has been," he raps. Common also touches on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy with the line "You put a ni**a in 'Star Wars,' maybe you need two/And then maybe then we’ll believe you."

In all, it's a pretty solid preview of his forthcoming album.Watch the freestyle above. We're glad to see he's still one of the top freestyle rappers in the game.
