Lil Wayne revealed that he actually teared up after hearing the ColleGrove opening track, "Dedication." In an incredible new interview with Genius, the rapper said he has no idea the track was coming from collaborator 2 Chainz. "It just came from nowhere," he said. He goes on to explain how he was in the car with his security detail and a female companion when he asked them to park the car so he could properly listen to the track. "After I started listening to what the lyrics was about, obviously I already tattooed some on my face, but that song made a few more drops. I had to text him right then and there... I don't even know where this came from. This is amazing." Of course, the lyrics he's referring to are when Chainz rapped, "If it wasn't for Wayne, it wouldn't be a lot of dudes in the game including me."

The topic then shifts to how Chainz was inspired by an earlier conversation during his time on the road with Lil Wayne's "I Am Music" tour back in 2007 and 2008. "I remember him calling me one day basically saying if I don't come out there, he gon' do my verse for me 'cause he couldn't just start with the hook type of shit," he said. "I didn't want to seem like I was clique-hopping, but I wanted to take the opportunity and make the best out of it." The result is the emotional opener for their joint album, ColleGrove, which you can check out for yourself here. Watch the whole interview above.
