Rising artist Tiko Texa$ marries aggressive, grimy rap with hard-lined synths and steep drops in her new EP, Gold Soul. Both creative and apologetically vulgar, the 11-track compilation translates the young rapper's heartbreak, anger and yearning into graphic verses and bold, club-ready production. The Texas native originally moved to L.A. in 2012 to pursue a modeling and acting career, but a serendipitous encounter with rappers Brooke Candy and Count Mack brought her into the music scene, marking the start of a rollercoaster ride packed with sleepless nights in the studio.

"I feel like I took all my secrets and pain and threw angrily them into an project," Tiko said. "I thought it would be depressing but it turned out so beautiful because pain is beautiful, life is beautiful. To fall back in love with yourself and God: Now, that's Gold."
