The graphic video caused shock and disgust across social media, and has now prompted an official response from the Good Life Festival promoters. In a statement to Billboard, a representative noted that “the safety of Good Life attendees and staff is our highest priority. Promoters do not condone violence of any kind, and take these issues extremely seriously. They pointed out that he was immediately evaluated by the festival's medical team and brought to a hospital. “He was discharged a few hours later. Good Life promoters will continue to monitor his well-being. The incident is being investigated by the Police.”

Rigby spoke out about the assault to Australia's 9 News Perth. "The actual impact rocked my whole head," he said, calling the video "sickening." According to the report, police arrested 18-year old Martin Fulton in connection to the incident, charging him with assault and trespassing.

Festival safety has long been a concern for lawmakers, parents, and concert-goers alike. Sexual assaults, fights, and drug overdoses have become an unfortunately common part of some events. You can watch 9 News' full report on the incident here.
