During an appearance with French media outlet CliqueEd Sheeran attempted to get in touch with his inner rapper. He performed a couple of lines acapella from Eminem's infamous song "Criminal" during a video interview. While Ed has cited a number of rappers, including Eminem, as inspirations, it doesn't look like he has a future as a hip-hop star budding anytime soon. We haven't seen this much of a white rap struggle since that unintelligible Iggy Azalea vine went viral. Nonetheless, Sheeran is a talented singer who's really just messing around, so his admittedly rough rapping skills are probably no concern to him.

The song originally appeared on Eminem's third album The Marshall Mathers LP, which came out back in 2000. You can relive the original magic here.

Ever since the release of his own hugely successful album X in 2014, Sheeran has been busy collaborating with artists like Macklemore and Ryan Lewisthe Weeknd, and Justin Bieber. He even broke a Spotify record, becoming the first artist to ever top 500 million streams on a single song. Something tell us his questionable hip-hop chops aren't going to stop his meteoric rise.
