In the last few years, the duo of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have blown up to become one of the biggest things in the music industry and yet, no matter how big you get, there's always someone bigger. This past year, when the Seattle rapper was putting together his eventual record This Unruly Mess I've Made, he put out a phone call to a wide range of artists that he hoped might appear. Some like Chance the Rapper and Anderson .Paak agreed, others, like for instance Adele, did not.
In an interview with the New York Times, the man born Ben Haggerty was asked if anyone had turned down his request to appear on the record. "Adele," he responded. Apparently, he reached out to the 25 singer to lend her golden voice to the song "Growing Up" but she didn't seem to keen on the idea. "She graciously passed," he explained. "I’m sure that there were times that we never heard back from somebody’s manager or something like that, but for the most part, no." Undeterred, Macklemore reached out to another Brit, Ed Sheeran, to help complete the song instead.
