Rostam Batmanglij has split with Vampire Weekend after a decade with the popular indie outfit. Batmanglij made the announcement this afternoon on Twitter. “My identity as a songwriter + producer, I realized, needs to stand on its own. still connected to the ppl I work with, but through the songs we make together,” he wrote. There is a bright spot, however, with Batmanglij noting that he will continue to work with former band member Ezra Koenig on future projects. "Ezra and I will continue to collaborate on future projects + future VW songs."

During his 10-year career with Vampire Weekend, Batmanglij had taken part in several side projects including a venture with Menomena’s Wesley Miles and producing for Charli XCX, WavvesCloud Nothings, and Carly Rae Jepsen's 2015 release, E•MO•TION. He is reported to be collaborating on future releases from HAIM and Ra Ra Riot. Most recently, he released his solo single, "EOS." Read his full note to fans about leaving Vampire Weekend below.
