Arizona United Soccer Club has reported that the squadfather, Diplo, will lead a financial investment group including himself and TMWRK management, among other industry folk, to purchase a minority stake in the team. The investment includes a seat on the soccer club's board of directors. Arizona United begins its 2016 season on March 23 in Los Angeles against the Los Angeles Galaxy II.

Diplo is a big fan of the game, and in a statement provided by the team he said, “I’ve been really fortunate to travel all over the world and experience different cultures through music. Wherever I am, Jamaica, Spain, England, China, etc., soccer is a social constant." He then added, “I wanted to figure out a way to get involved with the game and team sports so when Arizona United presented itself, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I see soccer the same way I see music, as a connective tissue linking the world’s cultures.”
