Unless you were sleeping under a rock last Saturday, we're pretty sure everyone and their grandmothers caught the live performance of Stormzy introducing British Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua into the ring with "Shut Up". Since that epic moment, the social media hashtag #ShutUpForXmasNo1 has been trending on Twitter. Stormzy's appearance in the squared circle has kick-started his campaign to commandeer the No. 1 spot for the Christmas single.
#ShutUpForXmasNo1
The battle for the coveted Xmas No. 1 usually ends up going to the winner of The X Factor, which this year is Louisa Johnson. Yet, as the years have gone by and the general public have come to peel off the layers that is Simon Cowell's emotional click-bait of a talent show, the winner hasn't always been guaranteed the top spot. Remember when Rage Against The Machine's "Killing In The Name" brought Cowell and his empire crashing back down to earth in 2009? It looks like south London's Stormzy, a recent MOBO award-winner, is looking to repeat the same feat. And, to be fair, we hope he pulls it off.
As well as Louisa, he'll also be up against a recently redeemed Justin Bieber and the force of nature that is Adele. If you're a betting man or woman, the bookies have Stormzy on a 10/1 odds to take the top spot. He's probably the underdog in this race, but he's got a chance as seen by the activity on the Twittersphere.
Stormzy has already 'sent' for Lousia Johnson
