Oil Gang Release Spooky's 'Coolie Joyride Remixes' f/ Murlo, Sir Pixalot And More

Thankfully we didn't have to wait another seven years for the remixes.

This year marks five years of Oil Gang and they've got a few tricks up their sleeves to celebrate. Much has been made of the upcoming JT The Goon album, a release both JT and the label are understandably gassed about, but this remix EP (out now and available for free download) from Spooky is more than worth mentioning. The original version was first released by Oil Gang back in 2013 but even then the tune had been "battered on dubplate around the world" for a staggering seven years. It's immensely impressive that a track should get such heavy play for nearly a decade and still feel like one of the freshest, bleeding edge tracks in grime. Still, it's about time we heard the track in some new light. In typical Oil Gang fashion the label's drafted in only the finest producer's to flip it. Samename, Trends, Murlo and Sir Pixalot each step up to the plate and, no disrespect to the original, but we may have a few new classics on our hands.
