Murlo's 'Music To Take You On An Odyssey' Mix For i-D

Murlo's Odyssey EP, released recently on Mixpak, was an all-killer icy voyage through grime-informed club sounds. It was also one of the greatest releases of the year. Now, as the dust begins to settle, he's put together this mix that features pretty much all the tracks from the EP, threaded together with R&B, hip-hop and other club sounds, some of which informed the EP and others that simply complement the frosty synths and futuristic textures.

Dullah Beatz' 'BDL' Mix For Fabriclive

On Jan. 8 next year, just as we've recovered from NYE, Big Narstie's BDL gang will be hosting their first ever takeover at Fabric. As you'd expect, the BDL general Big Narstie himself will be there, but in the mean time, Dullah Beatz has put together this little taster pack featuring some of the harder weapons in his record bag and, yes, that Big Narstie and Craig David collab features too.

JD Twitch's Mix For Gilles Peterson Worldwide

Optimo's JD Twitch has long been a very vocal advocate of African culture. As owner and founder of the Autonomous Africa label, Twitch gave us a way in to the many and varied cultures and art forms coming out of the continent and in turn gave a western outlet to musicians from various African countries to benefit charities based out there. Naturally, Gilles Peterson had to recruit Twitch for a mix and the results see him mix Afro takes on funk, soul and a whole bunch of stuff unlike anything you've ever heard before.

Graphs' Mix For Big Up Magazine

An affiliate of Om Unit's impeccable Cosmic Bridge label (who recently released his Posthuman EP), Graphs' brand of crushing, distorted bass music takes in grime, dubstep and drum & bass, all of which is reflected in this mix. Perhaps not wholly suited to the club in a traditional sense, Graphs takes us on a journey that, at times, can be danceable and fun (Future's "Trap Niggas" being the obvious example), but at others takes a wholly left-field turn into more cerebral territory. Beginning nicely with Tomás Urquieta's punishing "Neglect", Graphs then takes us through tracks from Rabit, Celestial Trax, DJ Spinn, Rizzla and more, peppering in one or two of his own productions for good measure.

Modeselektor's Mix For Solid Steel Radio

50Weapons may have breathed its last breath but that's only given the Modeselektor boys, aka Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, even more time to pour into their productions and mixes. Not quite as bright and silly as some of their other mixes, this one sits at the darker end of their creative spectrum but, between the robotic percussion, the grooves are so undeniably deep you can't help but move to it.

Bill Brewster's Mix For White Light

It's not often that Bill Brewster, the man behind the highly-regarded DJ History site and former editor of Mixmag, releases a DJ mix, so this is something of an occasion. Few people in this world know quite as much about music as Bill Brewster; he writes knowledgeably and passionately about all forms of music and is widely respected on both sides of the pond. His book Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, co-authored with Frank Broughton, is an essential read for dance music fans and when he puts together a DJ mix, you'd be well advised to drop anything and listen. Once you've enjoyed this one, make sure you check out his After Dark mix for Late Night Tales.

He's also very, very good on Twitter.

Deejay Astral's Mix For THUMP

Having just released his self-titled EP, Deejay Astral completes his one-two assault with a brand new DJ mix, featuring a lot of out-there house beats and sumptuous melodies. Though much of the mix sticks to the 4x4 template, Astral's dug out enough weird and wonderful variations to keep it as interesting and fresh as his EP.
