Lana Del Rey has famously covered Nina Simone songs on her past two albums, but today she returns with her take on Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last A Long Time." If you're not familiar, Daniel Johnston was a famous underground artist who grew a cult following back in the '80s. Kurt Cobain was one of his many fans and popularized Daniel's album when he wore a t-shirt featuring Johnston's hand drawn cover art reading "Hi, How are you?" at the 1992 MTV Music Awards. He was also the subject of the 2004 documentary The Devil And Daniel Johnston that detailed his struggle with mental illness and how it impacted his art.

Lana's cover was previewed in the trailer for Gabriel Aubry's new short film about the iconic singer titled Hi, How Are You Daniel Johnston? but can now be heard in full. In her cover, Lana exchanges the original's piano for guitars and drums for a decidedly more modern take. Watch the movie's trailer here and listen to the song below.
