Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have been dropping hints that a new Gorillaz album was in the works all year through various interviews and Instagram posts. Well, today, further confirmation for a new, long-awaited project arrived when Hewlett spoke with DIY to promote his new art exhibition in London. In the interview, he revealed some of the band's next steps, and that he's "shutting [himself] away" to work on music. "I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation," he said.

As for when, Hewlett revealed that we can look forward to new music "next year" before adding "I’m working on it at the moment, and it’s going very well. I’m very excited." The album will be the band's first together in five years, when they dropped The Fall in 2010. Jamie Hewlett's new art exhibition titled "The Suggetionists" opens Nov. 18 at London's Saatchi Gallery. More information can be found on Jamie's website
