curl up is back with his first release proper since 2013's Missed U EP for Terrorhythm. "winternet" (out Sept. 7 on Hot Mom USA) is its title, and what a strange beast it is. Opening with a grandiose guitar riff, the track almost fools you into thinking you've just put some '70s prog classics on the stereo. And it takes a little while for the reveal to kick in. But when it does, it'll knock you on your backside; not because of any noisy, bone-shattering drop, but because the power's dialed right back to a late-night vibe with just a hint of snappy club music. From there you're thrust fully into blissed-out club territory with beautifully crisp percussion, and luxuriously warm bass lines to carry you through the night like a big sonic wave.
