Almost six months to the day after leaving The New Yorker for Genius (formerly Rap Genius), Sasha-Frere Jones is moving again, this time to start an entertainment site at the Los Angeles Times. Prior to joining Genius, Jones had been at The New Yorker for a decade, becoming one of the most respected voices in music criticism, and his hiring at Genius was seen as a coup for the highly trafficked (but also oft-criticized) lyrics site.

Jones' stint at Genius started auspiciously—he famously got Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon to annotate Kendrick Lamar's "Blacker the Berry" in February—but seemingly failed to gain much traction afterward. In May it was reported that Jones had downsized his role at Genius; now the split is total. But hey, at least we now know that the author of the greatest comic book novel of all time also knows the "her" behind "I Used to Love H.E.R."
