Though one half of Daft Punkrecently ditched the helmet in the movie Reality alongside Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Heder, a proper history and behind-the-helmets look at the future's favorite duo — one respectful of both fact and fiction (a necessary element in the world of Daft Punk) — has largely eluded fans for decades. However, Daft Punk Unchained more than fills that void.

From the original press release:

This independent film, directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-authored with Marina Rozenman, tells the epic story of the world’s most secretive duo, with extracts from interviews with Daft Punk (archives from 1996 to 2013), rare documents and exclusive interviews with their friends and closest collaborators.

The documentary recently aired on the French network Canal+ and is now available to stream (see above). The only potential nuisance, of course, is that the film is currently in French and possesses no subtitles. However, for diehards and enviable French tongues, this won't prove much of an issue.

Cheat sheet: At approximately the 48:50 mark, you'll find a new Kanye West interview filmed backstage at his recent Foundation Louis Vuittonconcert series. Paired with the interview is a blistering performance of the Daft Punk-aided Yeezus cut "On Sight."
