It looks like the Robin Thicke and Pharrell "Blurred Lines" lawsuit is already changing the scope of the music industry. According to AV Club, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson recently updated the songwriting credits on their mega-hit "Uptown Funk" to include The Gap Band, and its members Charlie Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, and the late Robert Wilson. The report states that they did this to avoid a potential copyright lawsuit based on the likeness of the song with The Gap Band's 1979 track, "Oops Upside Your Head."

The major question that remains is if the remaining members of The Gap Band actually made a legal threat towards Ronson and Bruno Mars, or if they just added them to extra cautious moving forward. Currently, Ronson, Mars, all three members of The Gap Band, Lonnie Simmons, Rudolph Taylor, Jeff Bhasker, Phillip Lawrence, Devon Gallaspy, and Trinidad James are all credited on the hit, which spent 14 weeks at the No. 1 spot on the charts. So as of now, it doesn't look like Ronson and Mars will have to go through any of the legal drama that Thicke and Pharrell are currently engulfed in with their "Blurred Lines" case.
