It's weird how life works. Giorgio Moroder's credentials in the world of music have been rock solid since disco was the thing; he's the man behind productions for Donna Summer, produced the Scarface soundtrack, and helped turn the synthesizer into a viable instrument for not just electronic music, but for many genres. Yet it took Daft Punk to bring him to the current consciousness. Interviewing the legend on Random Access Memories' "Giorgio By Moroder" breathed new life into Moroder's career, which turned into Déjà vu, his first album of music in thirty years, and judging by the album's title track (which features powerful vocals from Sia), Moroder hasn't lost a step.
"Déjà vu" does a great job of updating the funky disco that made him a legend, combining it with soaring pop vocals. Giorgio might be right: 74 might be the new 24.
Déjà vu is set to be released on June 16, with features from Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX, Kelis, and many others.
